A professionally applied spray tan typically lasts 5 to 7 days, and in some cases even longer. Longevity can vary depending on your skin type and how well you follow the recommended pre‑treatment preparation and aftercare guidance. Proper care helps you maintain an even, natural-looking glow for as long as possible.

To get the best results from your spray tan:

Exfoliate 24 hours before your appointment to remove dead skin.

Shave at least 24 hours before (not on the same day) to avoid irritation.

Wax at least 48 hours before (not on the same day) to avoid irritation.

Avoid moisturisers, deodorants, perfumes, and makeup on the day of your tan, as they can affect how the tan develops.

Stop using retinol or strong exfoliating skincare (such as AHAs, BHAs, and retinoids) at least 48 hours before your tan, as these products can cause uneven fading.

If you use HRT gel, apply it at least 3-4 hours before your appointment to allow it to fully absorb. This will help with uneven development. Your tan will develop beautifully but it may fade slightly faster in areas where the gel is applied (like inner thighs or arms). This is completely normal.

For a traditional spray tan, we recommend waiting 8-12 hours before your first shower to allow the colour to develop fully. When you do shower, use lukewarm water only and avoid using soap or shower products during the first rinse. Gently pat your skin dry with a towel rather than rubbing.

If you have chosen a rapid/express tanning solution, your therapist will advise a shorter rinse time of 1-4 hours depending on your desired depth of colour.

For your appointment, we recommend wearing dark, loose-fitting clothing to ensure maximum comfort and to minimise any potential transfer of the tanning solution. Opt for garments that won't rub against the skin, such as a loose T-shirt and relaxed trousers. After your spray tan, continue wearing loose, dark clothing until your first shower. This helps protect the developing tan and prevents marks caused by tight straps, seams, or friction.

A full spray tan appointment typically takes 30-45 minutes, which includes an initial consultation to discuss your skin type, desired shade, and any specific requirements. This is followed by the preparation, application, and a short drying period to ensure an even, flawless finish.

Waxing, manicures, pedicures, and lash extensions should be done at least 24 hours before your spray tan.

Getting them done afterwards may remove or affect your tan.

No, avoid sweating, swimming, or any moisture (including rain) until after your first rinse, as this can cause streaking.

No, a spray tan is purely cosmetic and does not provide any protection against UV rays or sun damage. It is essential to continue using a broad-spectrum SPF sunscreen whenever you are exposed to the sun, regardless of having a spray tan.
